Blurb: Ethan Blackstone has problems. He's broken the trust of the woman he loves and she's left him because of it. Ethan isn't giving up though--he's determined to get his beautiful American girl back. Their passion together was explosive, but their secrets are even darker and more frightening. With political threats directed at Brynne, Ethan has no choice but to fight for her, to win her love, and to protect her from the very dangers that could take her away from him forever. He's willing to risk everything to have Brynne and to keep her safe. He'll go all in...

This is Book 2 in The Blackstone Affair.  This series must be read in order and are not stand alone.

Kitten's Review:

Book 2 continues where Naked (Book 1) ended, is written from Ethan's point of view and what a view that is! You've wanted to see inside a man's head, haven't you? This is your chance. Everything that he doesn't show on the outside is brought to light... His fears, his demons and his oh so dirty-dirty thoughts about Brynne.

I read some reviews on Amazon wherein some felt that Raine basically neuters Ethan in this book.  Why?  Because we read everything that he is feeling, all the total honesty that is there and therefore, he is no longer "alpha".  I really don't get that.  Do these women really expect a man that lost the love of his life, by his own actions (or rather omissions), not to feel devastated?  Is that the man that they want? There has been a tendency lately for alpha males to be "too alpha", and this is a definite turn-off for me. Yes, I want a strong, confident man, but there is a difference between that and a domineering one. Ethan Blackstone is an alpha male done right with all of his thoughts and actions combined to give this reader a clearer picture of he is about.

"Brynne, ... beautiful."  I heard the sound of her name come off my lips but couldn't remember intending to say it.  I had to see her naked again, to remember how she looked, to know I had the right to touch her and that she'd accept me.  I had to have some small part of her inside me before I could do anything else too, I was that desperate.

I really appreciated reading this point of view because it happens so rarely or as well done.  Given that Raine's inspiration for Ethan is David Gandy, the visual while reading is wonderful (and now some Gandy Candy).

Brynne so lovely and yet so damaged by a past that she wants nothing to do with except try to forget, or at least not have the memory of it forced upon her over and over.  Now knowing what happened, I'm not sure how she is as strong as she is now... How she made it this far.  She's obviously a much more resilient woman than I thought she was in Naked.

Brynne and  Ethan are committed to making their relationship work.  The open and honest dialogue Brynne needed from Ethan is now here, he is actually listening to her is now.  Isn't that what a relationship is supposed to be?  The give and take, the learning what works with each other and what doesn't?  This showed the growth of these two individuals that want to be together which should happen in any healthy relationship.

Now there are strange, cryptic text messages being sent to her from an unknown source, will her past continue to haunt her present with Ethan? Can Ethan keep her safe from this ever present danger?Hopefully, all these questions will be answered in the final book of the novella series Eyes Wide Open which is currently slated to be released towards the end of 2012.
